Ps Shufang opened her house for a Cluster 12 BBQ (partners and spouses invited) basically to network and have fun. It’s probably the healthiest BBQ I’ve ever been to. :) Tofu Kebab and tossed salad, anyone?

Dear Cluster!

For this season of Intimacy, our cluster pastors have marked out a day in the month for our Ethnos Emmanuel WORD Encounter. This is from Jan to June and we are coming together as a Cluster to spend time hearing His words and reading His words.
The fourth Word Encounter will start Friday May 30. Venue Block 162 Room 4L, 5pm to 10pm

Please inform your cell brothers, sisters and members and bring them there. Cell leaders may ask your members to come for the Word Encounter in lieu of your usual cell meetings.

Where?
Venue for Jan 18 Feb 15 Apr 18 May 30 should be at BLK 162 Level 4 Room 4L.

When? (all dates are on fridays)
Jan 18
Feb 15
Mar (replaced by Sanctification Weekend)
Apr 18

May 30 (May’s date is later as there are exams and Youthnet 144 Re-Encounter)
June 20 Cancelled

Time for each Word Encounter is 5pm to 10pm.

How (will it work)?
The room will be available from 5pm to 10pm. The audio bible will be played between 5pm to 10pm. Each of you can bring your cell at anytime between 5pm to 10pm to spend time listening to the Word and encountering God. So, its really OTOT (own time own target)
Eg: The cell can meet for dinner and then proceed to the room to spend an hour reading the Bible or listening to the Bible. OR for those with work commitments, your youth can spend time in the room before meeting you for dinner as you come from work.

Simple? Definitely! Come this year of Sabbath, let us draw close in intimacy with God!

Hey cluster!

We are in the FINALS! Singapore plays Malaysia on Saturday, 15th December at 4.30pm Thailand time, 5.30pm Singapore time. (http://www.teamsingapore.com.sg/publish/content/teamsingapore/en/games/sea/2007/thailand_2007/schedule.detail.html?sportFilter=106)

UPDATES:
Singapore beat the Philippines 10.5-1 yesterday. And Pastor Khong was chosen to be the “No. 1″! (http://www.equestrian.com.my/news/2007/12/13/3081,ce6,3cab97.html) Don’t know what that means in polo but I guess it must be good? Hahaz!

Now the Malaysian team are undeniably strong, so Pastor Khong and his team need all the support they can get. Angelic help. So people, let’s do it!

The SEA Games 2007 – Far From Over! December 12, 2007

Hey cluster!

Remember we voted enthusiastically for Pastor Khong for the SEA Games’ Sports Idol? Well he is in the FINAL ROUND which goes on from now until 21 December 2007, which means he is Singapore’s top 50 Sports Idols!

And he needs our votes! I think we can vote more than once (I know many of us did) so let’s help him out in this year of victory! Check out http://www.teamsingapore.com.sg/publish/teamsingapore/sportsidol/phase2/cat/lawrence_khong_kin.html and vote for our beloved pastor!

Also, he needs our prayers! Singapore has defeated Thailand 7-5 for Polo on 8 December (Saturday) and also beat Indonesia 8-3 on 9 December (Sunday). Just as the strategy went, Singapore lost to Malaysia 2.5-8 yesterday, 11 December (Tuesday). THE LAST MATCH FOR THE PRELIMINARY ROUND IS TOMORROW, 13 December (Thursday) where Singapore will play the Philippines at 4.30pm Thailand time. Let’s see Pastor Khong into the FINALS! Malaysia is in the finals after beating Indonesia 11-3.5, the Philippines 11-1.5 and Thailand 14-3.5. Courtesy of http://www.equestrian.com.my:

Malaysia: 4 wins: 8 points
Singapore: 2 wins, 1 loss: 4 points
Thailand: 1 win, 2 losses: 2 points
Philippines: 1 win, 2 losses: 2 points
Indonesia: 3 losses: 0 points.

Singapore needs only a draw to secure their place in the final; whereas apparently because of goal difference the Philippines has a glimer of hope if they thrash Singapore soundly on the Thursday match. According to http://www.equestrian.com.my/blog/polo/?cat=2 (a blog by a Singapore polo player, I think he’s Peter J. Abishenagaden) the Philippines needs to win with a score difference of 15 to edge Singapore out of the finals.

In the light of this, let us remember 15 December (Saturday), which is the FINALS for Men’s Polo. 4.30pm.

Let’s end off the year of victory with a bang!

In His Service,
Philip. =]

ETHNOS-EMMANUEL 12 RETREAT/ ADVANCE @ ST JOHN’S ISLAND (12 Oct – 14 Oct) October 14, 2007

I enjoyed this retreat very much. I hadn’t had such great retreat/ camp before, honestly.

Prior to the retreat, I had set for myself some retreat objectives to meet. They are

  1. Be a blessing to the family through love languages or meeting felt needs
    HWSLL
Bless at least 3 people during the retreat
    Result
Hmm… sisters & brothers, did anyone of you feel blessed/ loved by me? :P
  2. Seek God regarding the issue of ‘contentment’ & ‘money’
    HWSLL
I need God to speak to me…
    Result
Yup, the Lord did! He taught me by showing me verses during Day 1 worship and Day 2 quiet time. Shall not share the content here cuz it’s gonna be very long.
  3. Know my teammates more (we were in charge of BBQ games)
    HWSLL
Name at least 1 new discovery about each teammate
    Result
Yup, I got to know the love language of my teammates, Pey Rou, Scene Che, Alex Tai & Chen Ding. Scene Che has 2 other older sisters, Alex cannot eat sweets and play games at the same time (he gets distracted… haha), Chen Ding is really good at playing a traditional child-hood game (forgot what it is called). Pey Rou is my G12 sister, had deeper conversations with her. Hey guys, really enjoyed working and playing with you all.

 Worship & Quiet time

  1. Renewal & reminded of God’s love
  2. Surrounded by the nature which we seldom experience, it was so awesome to spend quiet time there. The fact that it was so inaccessible at St John’s island, I wasn’t distracted about going out of the retreat site to do other things. Like, going home to sleep and bathe… *good choice for retreat!*

I felt soooooooo loved by the family!

  1. Pampered by the delicious and impressive meals we had!
Day 1 supper: Green bean soup
    Day 2 breakfast: Chicken porridge, tea-leaf eggs, man-tou, siew-mai, coffee/tea/milo…
Day 2 lunch: Japanese teriyaki chicken, Jap rice with pickles and black sesame, peas, miso soup, cold tofu…
Day 2 dinner: BBQ – beef, chicken wings, marshmallows, fish, garlic bread, freshly cut and decorated fruit and salad…
    Day 3 breakfast: Bread with nutella/peanut butter/margarine, coffee/tea/milo…
Never had I had such good food at such u-lu place nor at any camp that I’ve been to!! Thank you to the Makan team!
  2. I was protected from attempted attacks by cats and cockroaches by brothers and sisters – don’t know why I attracted them. Eeee. I’m really very afraid of animals and insects.
  3. Pastor Shufang’s efforts in planning, organizing and running the retreat for us all despite pregnancy inconveniences. Thank you Pastor, that was such an act of love for us all.
  4. Quality time spent with many brothers and sisters! My love languages are quality time and words of affirmation. That’s why feel so loved. J

I AM very tickled by a few incidents that happened during the retreat:

  1. Jonathan Tan’s spastic woman-look… Bro, you are so humorous!
  2. Kien Chuan’s ‘Honey, I love you’ & ‘Darling, I’m home’… Bro, you had indeed impressed me lots!
  3. Wang Ying’s scratching of head to show that she feels loved… Sis, you’re so lovable and cute when you did that action. Hee…
  4. Vincent’s zero-point game incident: His trousers …… *erm*   :)  Bro, you are so onz! Shared with us openly about it some more… Hee

Honestly, I think I hadn’t had good laughs for quite a long time. Good laughs are good!

I also want to thank God for opportunities to know Pastor Hee Jhee’s 12 (whom I’m least familiar with) more through the fellowship time, even after the retreat when we went for lunch before service.

Thank you SF12, HG12, HJ12 & my G12 sisters! Muackz!
