Just a sharing for today’s devotion :)

John 2 recorded an event involving Jesus when He was at Galilee, attending a wedding. Just thought that i wanted to share something short about it.

Verse 1-3: “On the third day a wedding took place at Cana in Galilee. Jesus’ mother was there, and Jesus and his disciples had also been invited to the wedding. When the wine was gone, Jesus’ mother said to him, “They have no more wine.”"

So He was at a wedding, the wine ran out and His mother, Mary asked Jesus to do her a favor(a miracle).

Verse 4: ”Dear woman, why do you involve me?” Jesus replied, “My time has not yet come.”

Sounds like He wasn’t very agreable to it. (Ok, this is open to interpretation :P )

Despite that, He did the miracle anyway. He turned the water to wine.  But i thought i learnt 2 things about Jesus here…

1)He attended to an earthly need.

2)He submitted to an earthly authority(His mom).

However, having been told what to do, He did it very differently!

He did exactly what His mom told Him to do, but in a way that was totally counter the culture of His times.

The culture of His times can be found in the first part of verse 10: “(the master of the banquet)and said, “Everyone brings out the choice wine first and then the cheaper wine after the guests have had too much to drink;”

What Jesus did, second part of verse 10: “…but you have saved the best ’till now.”, Jesus gave them the best wine instead of what the culture of the time would have expected.

Talk about WWJD. :D
